H. Upmann Bank Building

It
was the first building constructed expressly for this purpose in Havana. Completed
in 1904, it belonged to the German Hermann Upmann, owner of several brands of
cigars. Bare stone, as well as the corner façade on which the entrance
can be found, enhance the building. The combination of sobriety with the classical
orders on the façade contrasts with the lavishness of the door carved
out of a single mahogany piece.
Today this building is the headquarters of the Cuban National Bank.
