It
was the home of the rich Catalan slave owner Joaquín Gómez. Built
in 1836, it opened up as hotel in 1885. It is inspired on the Palacio de los
Capitanes Generales. In 1999 it reopened as a four-star hotel while keeping
typical elements of colonial architecture: columns, arches, ironwork, inner
courtyard and the marble porch, one of the most beautiful in the city. It has
25 rooms, four of them suites. Its restaurant La Floridana specializes on Cuban
and international cuisine.
