It owes its name to the bishop Juan José Díaz de Espada
y Fernández de Landa, who was an enlightened man. During the bishopric of Espada lots of alterations were made to the Cathedral of Havana. The bishop dispensed the shrines and saints statues that he considered lacked taste and changed the old baroque shrines for new neoclassic ones.
This is an small street.
